The EatSafe program (Evidence and Action Towards Safe, Nutritious Food) was a five-year, USAID-funded initiative led by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) with the goal of improving food safety in the informal markets of Sokoto and Kebbi states, Nigeria. The project focused on building lasting change by addressing both vendor practices and consumer demand. It implemented a range of activities, including the "Abinci Fes Fes" behavior change campaign, where compliant vendors received branding and certification. The program also established physical information stands in key markets in Birnin Kebbi and Sokoto, created a multi-stakeholder alliance for collaboration, and ran a weekly radio show to raise broad public awareness
